Hi, I'm Donte. I'm VP of Culture at the full service digital design and dev studio Substantial, which has two offices (including its HQ) on the Hill. We've been a Capitol Hill company since we were founded 7+ years ago, and as we've grown we like to think we've helped to do our part to change attitudes about the kinds of work that gets done on the Hill (most companies like ours are downtown or in Pioneer Square). We can't imagine being anywhere else.
For myself, I've lived on the Hill for about the same length of time, and I'm proud to call it home. Since I live, work, eat, and play on the Hill, I have an interest in helping the neighborhood grow and change while still maintaining the character that makes it what it is. Capitol Hill is a special place with a lot of history, and while I'm only a recent member of its community, I don't want to see that legacy removed by virtue of short-sighted planning by the city or developers. If my being on the CHCC can help with that, count me in.
