BIA

The BIA is a project of the City of Seattle, which collects assessments from businesses along Broadway in order to fund cleaning services, beautification projects, and marketing.

The Broadway Business Improvement Area is an organization mandated by the Seattle City Council to promote clean sidewalks, beautification projects, foster relationships with other community organizations, and speak directly with the City of Seattle.

The Broadway BIA maintains a contract with CLEANSCAPES which provides daily sidewalk cleaning along Broadway from East Pine Street north to East Roy Street. The boundaries also extend 1/2 block east and west of Broadway.

The BIA also works diligently on issues such as public safety, transportation, housing and the quest for a prosperous business district.

The BIA is run by an all-volunteer advisory board which meets monthly on the third Thursday of each month at 8:00 a.m. at the Broadway Grill.

The BIA is financed by a mandatory tax paid by all businesses within the geographic boundaries.
